Baron Münchhausen

Hieronymus Carl Friedrich von Münchhausen(11.mai - 22.February 1797,birth and death in Bodenwerder) maybe first only got a little fame when he was part of Russian military but later, when he started to tell storys, he even got his own title "Lügenbaron" wich means lyin baron. The first people that noticed his great talent  were his friends and drinkers from Ruthern , back in germany he told so funny storys that people  just came to his house for entertaiment and some even stole his storys for publishing. Here ar some oh his famous titles:

In the night Munchausen ties his horse to a stake - as he believes - which in reality is  the tip of the spire of a weather-cock. After a snow melt, the horse dangles on the church tower. With his gun Munchausen shoots through the holster so that the horse falls down and he can continue his journey.

Munchausen catches ducks with bacon on a leash wich then flutter and carry him through the air.

Munchausen shoots a deer, a charge of cherry pits on the head, resulting a tree springs up instead of antlers.

Münchhausen hunting a rabbit with eight legs.

Munchausen summarizes a wolf in his throat and turns inside out.

Munchausen gets his in the snow fallen blade back with a stream of frozen urine.

Munchausen's horse is bisected by some kind of door. While the Baron didnt noticed, and rides with the front half of the horse, the other half of the horse has some sexytime with the other horses on the field.

Munchausen riding a cannonball over a besieged city, inspected the enemy positions and thn jumps on another flying ball in the opposite direction.

Munchausen pulling himself plus his horse out of a swamp on his own hair.

Munchausen throws his silver ax so far that it lands on the moon. On a beanstalk he climbs up to get it.

On a cold winterday the toans of a choachmans froze in the  post horn. Later, the horn will thaw in the tavern and the music came out  itself.

Munchausen travels with a sleigh as a wolf attacks his horse from behind and after eating the whole horse the wolf  is sticking in the horse dishes and assumes the role of the horse.

Munchausen is attacked by a rabid dog that bites into his overcoat. Later, the overcoat itself shows signs of rabies and goes after its owner.

There is not only the psychiatric factious disorder "Münchhausen-syndrome " called after him, of course there are some movies about this awesome man too, here is a collection:

Les aventures de Baron du Munchhausen by Georges Méliès

a german version from 1943 is written by Erich Kästner who wasnt aloud at that time so he wrote under pseudonym. It also was one of the most expensive movies of NS-time.

The super beautiful made movie from 1961 by Karel Zeman, i sadly coudnt find the whole movie online, actually not really any good video, but you should watch it

And the also great version from ex monty python Terry Gilliam from 1988

There are lots more, also cartoons... but i think the Karel Zeman and the Terry Gilliam one every one should watch, the german one is weird in context with history.
